How To Find Your Niche As A Coach, Consultant, Healer Or Speaker
If you’re a coach, consultant, speaker or healer trying to find your niche market for your business, you no doubt have heard the term “pick a niche and you’ll grow rich.” Most business coaches approach niche marketing from the “how to find the niche and define your market that is lucrative” perspective.
What’s fundamentally wrong about this perspective in today’s dramatically changed purpose-focused and social impact driven market, is that it ignores the fact that you have soul niche group of people you’ve come here to serve with your unique gifts and talents. This mercenary approach to niche marketing in the coaching and speaking industry also creates a mass migration to identifying your niche in crowded spaces just because they’ve been lucrative for existing coaches, healers, speakers and consultants.
When you’re in a helping profession there are two types of niches you need to identify.
- Your target niche market of people you serve;
- Your niche topic that your message falls under.
The Problem With Identifying The Wrong Niche Market For You
Getting your niche right is the difference between having clients or not, making money or not.
95% of new clients who come to me with issues of not getting enough clients, or not making enough money, are in the wrong niche market for them. Despite the fact that they may have entered that market because some coach or guru told them it would be a lucrative niche to enter.
Coaches often end up in a niche market that has very little alignment to their purpose, and what they’re really here to do in the world, even though they thought they were in the right niche.

I’m going to present to you a radically different approach to clarifying your niche than anything else that is out there. It’s an approach that will not only give you great clarity of direction for how to grow your coaching business but also start to get you better results, not to mention more congruity in your brand and messaging.
Consider this… The current approach to niching is Mercenary – It’s focused on what niche will you make money in. Then there is the new Missionary approach which is – to do what you love and work with who you would you love to work with.
The problem with the Mercenary approach to niching for purpose-driven folks is that it doesn’t work for you if you’re not motivated by money as a primary driver. If you’re wanting to make a bigger difference in alignment with a sense of greater purpose, then looking to where you’re going to make money won’t help you get the same results as someone who is primarily money driven.
The problem with a Missionary approach is that choosing people you’d really love to help often has you working a lot of pro-bono because your heart desires to help those less fortunate, and therefore people who can’t afford your services. That’s not sustainable.
Many coaches and mentors have taken the “do what you love” approach and found the money didn’t follow them. This is because there’s a misalignment going on between your purpose, mission, message, monetization model and niche.
Aligning Your Niche Market With Your Life Purpose To Create Magic
Get that alignment to your life purpose right and you’ll have found the key that unlocks the door to the niche you’ll prosper in.
- You’re marketing will work better.
- You’ll be more targeted in your Facebook/LinkedIn or Google advertising.
- You’ll have a better idea of where to find all your ideal clients and customers.
- You’ll get better results for your clients.
- You’ll get more word of mouth referrals.
- You’ll have more fun working with your “peeps”.
- You’ll find it easier to build a community around you.
As coaches, speaker, consultants, and healers we are very purpose driven and feel a deep sense that our purpose is to help others. But were you aware that there are many layers to your purpose that can actually help you nail your niche?

When I first began to work with entrepreneurs to help them transition into a “Business For Good” model that aligned to their higher calling, I started to see this consistent theme.
Client after client had the exact same pattern of struggling to get sales in the niche they were in, meanwhile there was a large group of people they had really come here to help with their products and services.
When we transitioned their niche, rebranded and launched them into their new niche, rapid growth began to occur. So I started developing a process to help people connect to that niche for themselves, instead of relying 100% on my visionary abilities, and a very interesting thing emerged.
The Manifestation Magic Of Niching To Your Purpose
I saw that the niche you were born to serve and prosper in also carries magnetic attraction powers – Mojo. That’s because it is part of your purpose to serve these types of people. When you align with this niche it carries the magnetic power of attraction of that Soul Blueprint.
This was the discovery that popped my business. This magnetic power doesn’t just work to attract clients and the right audiences. It also works to attract your community, like-minded friends, colleagues, and joint venture partners.
My friends often comment on how wild it is that where-ever I go I always seem to find or draw to me, like-minded people. I can be in a room full of mainstream mismatched people whom I have nothing in common with.
I can feel and look like a fish out of water. Within about 20 minutes I will have drawn someone like-minded to me who shares my Bohemian sustainable, peace-loving, caring sharing values. My people are magnetically drawn to me, as I am to them.
This can happen for you too when you’re embodying your right message and you know who you’re right niche is.
Transformational messengers are always drawn to me because I was born to serve them, work with them, educate them, and have a joint venture with them. We have so much fun together. There’s a real sense of community growing. Which is a big value for me.

It has to do with clarifying your purpose, your life’s mission and message, so we get a better idea of the niche market you’re here to prosper and serve in. It’s like reverse engineering from the very top reason you’re alive on the planet.
Your Life’s Mission (the doing part of your purpose) is your north star in your business and in finding your right niche market. From there, it becomes easier to clarify your offers, and what products and services will take off and generate sales growth in that niche.
You don’t want to be mismatched with your message and offers in a niche that isn’t yours to prosper in because you’ll continue to get frustrated about the underwhelming results. It’s not like finding a profitable niche and the niche you’re here to serve aligned to your purpose are mutually exclusive. In fact, in today’s purpose-driven world they are now the same thing.
You want to transition as quickly as possible to that niche you’re here to serve and prosper with because, in my experience, you get a rapid turnaround in your business.
